Wednesday
*Calves
Cloudy some all day. R taken R to Nola's; he and D went to garage then to Stock Sale, then to Katherine's for supper. Came back about 8.
G pulled sprouts over then wetn to S sales. Got 2 Holstien calves$31 for one, $30 for other. Got #45 bag meal $7.00 for them. Nice calves so far. I sewed some, ironed and varnished chairs and rocker.
Cat scratched Tippy in eye...little sore.
September 6, 1951
Thursday
Raining good. Everybody kind of slow and lazy so far. G already gone to lay down. Was to go to Natural Bridge today but to rainy...then left here at 1 got back at 10:15. Milk fed calves.
Tippy was glad to see us. Had nice trip some place. E is to come back from Shen today.
Kinda rainy for her.
Fred have new baby 10 yrs since the last one.
Calves drank their milk good.

Friday
*Grace B has her sixth baby (now 3 boys 3 girls)
Sun out, bright. G and I are pulling sprouts. R mowed with scythe.
Tippy played till she was tired now she is asleep. I hadn't gotten anything done yet.
Guy shot Mrs. G's cat.
I baked apple + butterscotch pies, made applesauce. Cooked piece beef and defrosted refrig.
Borden's came, we went over to see Cecil milk with the milkers.
Had our last corn from the corn field.
September 8, 1951
Saturday
Cool in house but sun warm outside. R went away a little. G asleep. Tippy playing. R + I cleaned the house. Have some sore throat + cold; guess too much wind. G gone + got 3 squirrels up in the woods.
