Floursack Underwear and Sugar Sack Quilts

Continuing our Show n' Tell this month, today I want to share an adorable find...

Early flour sack underwear

These were found in several boxes that we acquired belonging to the estate of an original homestead family here in our County.

.....and here is a LARGE quilt top made up entirely of Vintage Flour, Salt and Sugar Sack that have been hand dyed PINK, Spring Green and Yellow. These colors really POP! When I hung this, it reminded me of stained glass.

This is quilt ready to ship and would be a great Spring project as an easy 'tied quilt'. The condition is wonderful, there is some slight fading due to the hand dyed nature and there are a few small tension holes throughout. No stains, tears, no musty odor, etc.

I snapped these pics on a rather blustery day, so it was a wee bit difficult to capture the advertising still visible on some of the opened sacks; such as The Honey Dew Sugar Sack to the far right edge of the above pic.

The quilt top measures 72" wide x 88" long; the main pattern blocks measure 14" square and the yellow squares are 7" square. This has been gently soaked in homemade laundry treatment and line dried in the sun.
*Please note that we do not ever use dry cleaning, dry cleaning sheets, any product with chemicals, fabric softener or dryer sheets on any of our vintage fabric items.
