Monday
Cloudy for rain or snow. One in PM it started to sleet + rain, got bad in the nite.
Ruth got home, okay. G gone to have starter fixed, i quilted.
Taken old man his clothes over.
Railroad strike in lots of big city's.

Tuesday
Snowing, sleeting, raining...really a bad day to be out. I can quilt.

In evening Cecil, boys and Elwood was here a while.
Ruth nursing home in Win.
Not many stiring outside. Got starter fixed today.

Wednesday
Rev LJS died this AM in his home in Charlotte; he was a fine old man, we sure did like him. He sure loved our ice cream. He was 80 yrs old.
Rained nearly all day, was awful out. Rained turned to sleet was it slick every where!
Ruth didn't go to work at Winc..too bad
G has chains on, taken 2 ruptured pigs to stock sale weighed 140

Friday
Cold as 500 today, where it's hard on a fellow.
I done work outside and the rest of th day I was inside quilted nearly all day.
Drixie and the girls were over till 1 o'clock. Ruth nursing in Winc tonite.
Bess is coming home tomorrow, Sat. Feels pretty good
7 lambs are cold too.

G rested. I quilted I cleaned up some in PM was home all day + nite.
Had letter from E, said her arm + leg was getting better now.

Sunday
In Am was right nice...the longer the day went, the more cloudy. I went up to Church then to MJ for dinner. Good chili, good lemon pie.
G wanted to go fishing but Bob wouldn't go, wait til Monday Eve

I done different jobs and quilted lots in evening. I went with Pauline up to Elsie's to meeting, not many there.
Awful icy and bad going.
Richard, Ima Jean, Eva, Janice and Gubert went to D.C. to see the Ice Capades tonite. Bad time.
We have 6 lambs to date.

Was busy all day, going to stop now at 9:30. I baked 3 pies this AM, cleaned windows and cleaned up around in PM. Garlan, Kat, Margie, Marg, Pearlie came to quilt, didn't get too much done. I quilted this eve

Beautiful day 65 I washed big wash, then dressed 7 chickens for G.
Done up the work good, got supper then quilted till 9:15....must write some now.
The Chevie took a nose dive for the creek.

Awful nice day for the 13th of Jan. Will clean up + mop up good. Messed around got supper. Here come Roy. G went fishing, I went up to town + to ML's till 11:30. G was home in bed when I got home. No fish.
Dr. Roy died at Charlottville this pm. been there over a month. Good surgeon.

Raining cats and dogs real hard up till nite. I went up to Patmos to preaching then to MJ to dinner. MJ feeling bad. Sure was a wet rainy day. Melvin came home from camp today the first in 15 weeks. Si got him a 1948 Plymouth.

*Taken Margaret to Stanton today, nerves bad.
Winch called Cecil at 3am, Bess had coughing spell tore several stitches out, will give her ether and put them back. Cecil and Clint left about 7:30 to go down was there all day. Gave her pt blood too, must not be doing to good.
G went to mill with big load feed. I went up to Garlan's to put quilt on frame.
Awful muddy + wet, colder tonite.

I was busy all day fixing for Wednesdays dinner + cleaning up. G gone for eggs (41). Nice weather.
Bess had bad nite again, called Cecil again this morning early.

Very nice day. I gave the violets a bath and cleaned their dishes. Washed the windows good, transplanted some and worked with them till noon. Popped big pan of corn for cats and me.
Killed rooster in evening. G came home about 11. Calf is okay now.

About 14 above this morning and windy too. Seems like it's zero. Margaret came about 11. Then after she left, Sissy and Anna Jean come; new hats and coat on...was here till after 12. I sent E a letter. G gone.
Operated on Bess for tumor. Sewed on Aid quilt...ready now to put in frame.

Bright and not so cold like last nite...the wind made it so cold. Very nice day G went for eggs. I worked around and sewed some, made E a new apron.
In evening we went up to Lula's to supper; Si, Kat, Aunt Rose, Rosemary, Jim, Garland Rev, Mrs B, Frankie, Kathy's son; G + I, Fred, MJ, Eldena, Esther, Earl, Lula and Karen.

G + Bob R went fishing, didn't see any. I made E new apron or finished one. I messed around all day, was over to R's a little. Carl W was burried at Harrisville this PM...died Sun at Si went there for operation for a bad goiter, to late.

Weather kinda funny this AM, but has cleared up now. Eggs .46
Sent E 2 aprons today. Had big letter from her.

Elwood wrecked C's blue truck Sat nite; tractor hit him.
First Sunday in 1951, no preaching up here or up home either. May go up to MJ's tomorrow if we don't have too many fish to clean. To cloudy didn't get a tail of fish, he was home at 9. It started to rain early. Rained all day. I went up got ML we went out to MJ's a while. SD was home. In evening we went over to Mr. R's some.

Real warm + sultry. Really did get muddy. I sent mail out, then cleaned up the Christmas doing; put everything away, cleaned up good. G was out and gone all day. Had to work on car some. Cecil taken black heifer up to Clint's till it's weaned

Weather real warm sun out bright little rain about 4:30 awful muddy. Guy made new hog trough, I'm ironing..didn't get thru Emma Jean was over.
Had pork chops, gravy, fried taters, corn for supper..onion, bread, crackers.

Awful nice day not cold and sun was so bright...I ironed some, patched some, made up Mom's bed clean, cleaned up the house good. Went over to Ruth's a while. Cecil and Clint went to Winc to see Bess, will operate on Mon.
I washed my hair and my grey sweater tonite.
Calf has scours bad.
Clint's cow died.

Awful nice day. I straightened up, taken ashes out, piddled around. Guy slept in a while this AM, then he fixed pig slop shute, then this eve he went fishing.
I baked fine lemon pie; going to pop some corn now. Used my mixer for the first time.
